COZÌ STUDIO, 'ONE BENT BOWL'

COZÌ STUDIO, 'ONE BENT BOWL'

A simple manipulation of a two dimensional surface creates an elegant sculptural centerpiece bowl. Achieving maximum performance with minimum intervention.

Paper thin wood veneers are layered on top of each other, separated by glue. The stack is placed in a two piece mold that dictates the product's final shape. An electric current is passed through the mold, solidifying the glue and stabilizing the form of the bent veneers. The meticulous plan of the three dimensional mold, executed by CNC milling is designed to bend the veneers into shape without stretching the material and forcing it to split.

Cozì Studio is a high-end brand for lighting fixtures and furniture design.

Founders Yuval Carmel and Ofir Zandani are two industrial designers that combine multidisciplinary knowledge of manufacturing techniques, high-end technologies and traditional crafts.

Their products are characterized by a unique morphology, due to a thorough study of materials and a constant interest in pushing technology boundaries to the limits.

Behind each work lays an idea, a vision interpreted; creating a dialog between technology and craft, between perception and tangibility.

This 'One Bent Bowl' is made of American walnut, but is also available in light ash.

Measurements: 33 x 36 x 13 cm.
