A Vitra Noguchi Rocking stool (maple) in great condition. This item is no longer in production. Measures 16.75" high, 14.25" diameter. Materials: Chromed steel rod, natural maple.
In 1954, immediately after returning from Japan, Isamu Noguchi presented the design for a Rocking Stool to Knoll. The slightly curved seat and base sections were turned in wood then waxed, the joints composed of chromed steel wire rods slanted diagonally to form a central, round foot, paying tribute to wire artist and furniture designer Harry Bertoia. The Rocking Stools are fun to sit on, combining playful and ergonomic aspects. Their cambered bases allow the stools to rock gently in all-directions. Vitra Design Museum Collection.
