Originally introduced in 1958, the iconic molded plywood armchair by Norman Cherner is found in collections worldwide. Reissued in exacting detail from the original drawings and molds, the armchair elegantly combines a unique molded plywood shell of tapering thickness, a solid bent wood arm and a laminated wood base. Armchairs are available with upholstered seat pads in variety of finishes and veneers. Like the original, made entirely in the U.S.A.

FINISHES:
Natural
"Natural" finishes have a clear top coat where the natural variations in the color and the grain of the wood are clearly visible. No stain or color enhancements are used. Seating products with a "Natural" finish include: Beech, Red Gum and Walnut.

Aniline dyes and water-based low VOC varnishes are used to produce a finish where the natural grain texture of the wood is clearly visible with uniform color throughout. Classic color finishes are: Walnut, Ebony or Stella Orange.

Products with a lacquer finish are smooth to the touch with a uniform color with no wood grain visible. There are no natural variations in color or texture. Lacquer finishes are available in Ebony or White.

Cherner Chair seat products may be ordered with a combination of any of our standard finishes. Walnut and Ebony products come with a "Classic Walnut" seat and "Ebony Lacquer" arms and legs. The Ebony and Beech combination is composed of an "Ebony Lacquer" seat with "Natural Beech" arms and legs. Please feel free to call us if you are interested in some other combination not shown on our website.
"Natural" walnut products have only a clear finish applied. The lighter beech core and darker walnut face veneer are brought into vivid contrast. Products with a "Classic" walnut finish have a stain applied to both the beech core and the face veneer which gives the products a uniform walnut color (very little contrast in color between the beech core and the walnut veneer).

Cherner seating products can be ordered with seat pads or seat and back pads. Pads are comprised of molded plywood forms padded with 3/4" of foam and wrapped with one of the following options: customer's own material (COM), Maharam Fabric, or Spinneybeck leather.
Seat pads must be installed at the factory and must be ordered at the same time as chairs or stools. Seat pads cannot be purchased separately or installed on previously purchased chairs.
